If you’re looking for ways to reduce the swelling or the size of your fat cells — especially for reducing the appearance of cellulite, ladies — then you’ve landed on the right blog.
Tip #1: Reduce inflammation
The Cliffs Notes version on how to do this:
- Un-process your diet (stop drinking diet soda)
- Decrease your sugar intake
- Minimize consumption of alcohol
- Lessen stress
- Get more sleep
Tip #2: Reduce your body fat
Mind-blowing data: You probably have the same amount of fat cells, today, that you’ve had since you were 16. You’re thinking,
“Oh no. This girl didn’t have any fat cells when she was a teenager!”
But yes, you did. Of course, I don’t know what your body fat was like back then, but for most of us…
the amount of fat cells we have throughout our adult lives is very close to what we had after we finished puberty.
Now, there are certain times in our lives where, due to hormonal changes, we do increase the number of fat cells we have:
Just another reason to look forward to “the change”!
Here’s the deal, though, if you don’t walk into menopause blindly — prepare by really paying attention to your nutrition and your lifestyle — then it isn’t going to feel like you got hit by a Mack truck. Hopefully, it just feels like any other time because that is how fat cell production works.
Tip #3: Create an energy deficit
Notice how I specifically didn’t say calorie deficit. Look, the whole concept of a calorie — you’ve read about that in previous blogs — is just total hogwash. Energy in versus energy out is accurate, and if we can create a slight deficit where we’re burning more energy than we’re consuming, then we’re likely going to see a reduction in body fat.
A reduction in body fat means that those fat cells are going to shrink in size.
And when they shrink in size, they don’t push as hard on the connective tissues and, therefore, the appearance of cellulite is minimized.
Side-note: Don’t go crazy, ladies, because we’re supposed to have cellulite.
