Everyone ages, but these days it seems we’re all trying to get that youthful look back. While it would be nice to have a cream or treatment as a quick fix; nutrition is a great place to start if you’re looking to get your youthful glow back long-term. These three beauty robbing foods are harming your body, and your looks. I’ll explain what they are and how to change your approach to them to get your beauty back today.
We are becoming more and more aware that sugar is like a drug in our bodies. We crave it every night and can’t seem to get enough. It doesn’t help that it’s everywhere, from the obvious places like desserts, to more hidden ones like condiments and fat-free alternatives. Sugar robs your beauty in two ways. First, it causes inflammation, which is swelling. It’s the body’s way of saying that what you’ve put into it is too much. The second way is by preventing collagen repair. Collagen is what keeps everything together, and while you’re putting that cream on your face every night, you’re also robbing collagen from your body with every chocolate bar you eat for dessert.
There are several ways to satisfy your sweet tooth and still keep your beauty. First, limit your sweets to on occasion. Think birthday parties only, or maybe once a month. The frequency is up to you. Another way to get your sweet fix is to use alternative sweeteners like Stevia, maple syrup, or Blackstrap molasses. These will give you a sweet taste without all the added calories and chemicals. Blackstrap molasses even has minerals like Iron and Calcium, which will boost your beauty further.
This is a hot topic when in terms of eating healthy because so many people don’t want to give it up. Dairy is hard to digest and most adults probably don’t digest it well. Just because you aren’t lactose intolerant doesn’t mean your body should process dairy. Since it’s hard to digest, it takes a long time, which also causes inflammation throughout your body. Both of these are symptoms that your body doesn’t like what it’s being given, and both can rob you of your beauty.
One example of how dairy causes chaos in the body is strep throat. I know someone who had chronic strep throat, like she didn’t want to go to anymore birthday parties with her kids because she’d leave with it. She gave up dairy, and since hasn’t had one bout of it since. Now that’s powerful proof.
Refined oils and trans fats
Now we know all about trans fats and how they’re being taken out of most processed foods, but refined oils are another problem. These oils are highly processed so they have a longer shelf life. That creates a product that our bodies don’t recognize, which causes high levels of inflammation. Even 1 tablespoon of these oils can cause a reaction in your system. Avoid oils like canola, peanut, and soybean, and opt for avocado, coconut and olive oils instead.
